iPhone speaker not working during calls

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone during calls, check on several things which I’ll be showing you in this article and some other cases, and how to fix some likely issues too. Most times we mistakenly have our iPhone sound switched off, or maybe we need to check on our speaker to see if we need to clean it up, anyway, we’ll look at most of the solutions to these.

When I call someone, they can’t hear me?

If you have checked everything possible that could cause this problem, such as checking the volume of your device, playing music to test if the speaker has issues, and other things and nothing seems to work, I think you should restart your device because sometimes the problem seems to come from the software, if you have to fix these issues make sure you restart the device. Restarting the system will give it a memory refresh and also return everything to default before the issue started.

How do you know if your phone speaker is damaged?

Before you conclude, follow some quick steps which I’ll be showing and after doing these we can start checking if the hardware is behind the issues. But first, you need to identify what your issue is, and you can achieve that by calling someone close by and asking if the receiver can hear you when you speak, once you are done testing these now we can proceed. The reason we did this is that most times the issue may come from the receiver’s end, which means your speaker is good, but you can’t hear from the receiver due to network issues or phone’s mic issues.

Learn the following step:

Check your sound settings: If your device has a ring/silent switch, you can find these at the left edge of your device, make sure you switch it forwards, towards the display side so that the orange indicator isn’t showing. Any device other than the iPhone should swipe the top-right corner to view Control Center and make sure that Silent Mode is off.  If you have your device on “do not disturb me” make sure you turn it off, by simply Opening Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb.

Clean your receivers and speakers: Particles of dirt might be stuck in the receiver’s or speaker’s opening, On iPhone only, make sure that the receiver is not blocked or dirty. if necessary, to get rid of these make sure you remove the phone case first and then get a soft bristle brush that’s dry and then clean up the holes

Check the sound on your device: Go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times. If you don’t hear any sound, or if your speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is dimmed, your speaker might need service.

Try making a call: Sometimes the issues don’t seem to come from your device, try calling other numbers on your contact list. You can test your speaker by playing music on your device, If you hear sounds, try making a call with your iPhone and turn on the speakerphone.

Why can’t anyone hear me when I make a call on my iPhone?

This one seems to be quite a different issue when you make a call, and you can only get a side response like the receiver saying “hello, hello” repeatedly then you should know that the issue seems to come from your device mic.

If your device has these issues, don’t make any attempt of fixing it yourself, make sure you take your device for service. You can try restarting your device and if it cannot work there’s no home application to these, take it to an Apple Store or where you can get it fixed.

Why can’t I put my iPhone on speaker during a call?

When there is a software glitch on the device, things seem to go weird, you just need to restart the device, and it will go back to normal. But what if it doesn’t work, check if your speaker icon is gray during a call, these are often caused when the device gets stuck in headphone mode, the reason this happens is that the integrated circuit (IC) audio component, moving around slightly inside your phone and becoming unseated over time from normal use.

If you want to get rid of your device on automatic headphone mode, take it for service, for the main time, you can manage it by using earphones or AirPods.

Hope this article on iPhone speaker not working during calls was of great help to you, if at the end of this article, if you could not fix your device, then you should take it to an Apple Store or a place where you can get your device fixed.
